Nature Birthday Parties:
Forest Mini-Beast Discovery
See decomposition in action. Learn all about the fascinating organisms that live within the microcosm of a rotting log. Salamanders, spiders, and millipedes are just some of the creatures that call a decaying log home. Use bug boxes and hand lenses to see these animals up close. Also learn about the wonderful world of worms as we take a closer look at nature’s recyclers.
Ponding
Decomposition also occurs in our wetland habitats. Fish, Great Blue Herons, and the Osprey are at the top of the food chain here in this aquatic world but see the predators who are lurking in the muddy shallows? Some of these mini-beasts@ will spend only a short period of time living in our ponds then through the miracle of metamorphosis, sprout wings and fly away. Others, like the tadpole of a bullfrog, will spend up to two years under water and ice before they develop air-breathing lungs and hopping legs.
Tree-rific
lants and trees are vital to our existence. Since the dawn of time they have provided us with food, shade, fuel, shelter, and oxygen. Come and learn all about these majestic giants that make up the forests and woodlands around us. We’ll play games and who knows maybe even build a tree of our own.
Predator, Prey, Play!
In the real world the game is survival but in this program the game is learning through games and activities. Every living thing plays a part in the delicate web of life. We will learn about the food chain and find out what it is like to be the fox... or perhaps the hare.
Sensory Explorations
It has been said the olfactory sense (sense of smell) is the strongest of our five senses, yet it is our sense of sight which most of us rely on the most. Our five senses: sight, smell, touch, taste, and hearing are your experiential tools which you use every day. This program allows you to flex your sensory skills to their limits.
